The Pumpkins and a little pumpkin This year so far seems to be a year of change and growth for the Pumpkins. I am happy for the various roads everyone is taking in order to be fulfilled musically and spiritually. I wish everyone the best. I want to share something wonderful that is happening this year for me also. My husband Kris and I are expecting a baby in October! We are very excited. Until the baby is here I will be on the road working on my own music as Kris plays keyboards for Morrissey (with Matt Walker on drums). The band is very good and it’s an honor to watch them play every night. Well, thanks for letting me share this news with you all. Kris and I feel very blessed and thankful!

Where I have been/For Better, For Worse Hello,I just wanted to write a little blurb about what has been going on in my life and where I have been. Between this October and October of 2007 I met, fell in love, got engaged and then got married to the best person I have ever met! His name is Kristopher Pooley and I am so thrilled to be married to him. Needless to say, I have been super busy this past year. Between that and touring, I have also been busy dealing with a close family member who has been in and out of the hospital over the past few years. It’s really hard to see a loved one become really ill and not be able to figure out how to get them better. It’s been a very difficult year but it has also been the best year of my life. So, in case anyone was wondering why I haven’t updated my page or spent a lot of time communicating online, those some of my reasons. I think they are pretty good! Well, now that things have settled down a bit personally, it’s time to gear up for the next Pumpkins tour. I am excited about the upcoming tour. I can’t say too much, but it’s going to be a great show. We have started rehearsing and it’s great to be back in the same room playing with everyone again. I can’t believe it’s already been 2 years since I started playing with the band. So much has happened since then. We’ve gotten to know a lot about each other and how to work together. Of course you have to experience life together in order to get to a place of understanding. Life and relationships often includes conflict of course, and it’s really what you do with the conflict that leads to better understanding, better friendships and ultimately a better band. I am thankful for the friends that I have made in this band and for how much better we are now than when we first started playing together. It has been challenging for everyone, especially for fans, to see some new faces on stage. I’m not going to pretend that I don’t know that. I was a fan of the original band, too! Things are different now though, for better or worse, depending on your preferences. Everyone has a right to their own opinion. But for me, things are better for a lot of reasons. I am thankful to play in the Pumpkins. I am thankful for music, life and love. So, in case you were wondering, this is where I have been.Love,Ginger Pooley

Last week I had the opportunity to serve the people of Louisiana in Saint Bernard Parish (a suburb of New Orleans) who were victims of Hurricane Katrina with people from some local churches here in Southern California. There were 12 in our group and we served with other groups from all over the country. It was one of the best weeks that I have ever had. I worked with some of the best and hardest working people that I have ever met. I am truly blessed to now call them both family and friends. Together we worked in unity to bring joy to those who are downcast, hope to the hopeless and a smile to the faces of those with tears in their eyes. We hugged those who felt helpless and just needed a shoulder to cry on. We listened to many people who told us that they had lost everything. We encouraged the empty handed to take generously from the tables that were stocked with food to take back with them and we helped them carry their things that they had been blessed with. So many broken people walked into the tent where we worked and stood in line. They were hesitant to take more than they needed for the day as they were not used to taking, but buying. We talked but mostly listened to the people who cried or didn’t cry. Most everyone wanted to tell us their story. It was traumatic. The whole town of Saint Bernard Parish was destroyed due to the levy that broke. A pastor named Pastor Randy showed us his church that was destroyed. It had been flooded with 9 feet of water. There were no walls left as they had all been washed away. Broken glass and thick dried mud coated the floors that used to be only carpet. He told us of his friend who, after the levy broke, jumped out of his window and onto the 9 foot wall of water that covered the entire town. He grabbed onto a piece of fence that was made of styrofoam and was rushed right passed the roof of the church. He finally grabbed hold of part of the roof of a local building and rode the storm out there. He was later rescued by a man on a jet ski. The entire town was filled with people who had everything taken away from them in a matter of days. I don’t understand what this is like, but my heart weeps for them. Christ would have had compassion on them were he here. He would weep with those who weep. He would hold them and share in their suffering. The experience that I had this week was like none other that I have ever experienced. I have never worked so hard in my life and I have never been so blessed.The destruction in Saint Bernard Parish was eminent as was the helplessness on the faces of her citizens who returned to their homes for the very first time since Katrina hit. I hope to return and I pray that God would send more people to Louisiana and Mississippi to volunteer. There is a need. I urge whoever reads this to try to find a way to get involved in making a difference in someone else’s life by giving of their time, not their money. Whether it be a trip to Louisiana or even a trip to the local homeless shelter. You are valuable and have the power to change someone’s life.

Hi, thanks for stopping by. I have a lot of shows coming up including the San Diego Vans Warped Tour and Sonshine Festival. I have been busy writing music as usual. I also (randomly, and maybe I’ll write a blog about it) have been in the studio recently singing for an upcoming movie written by Bob Saget. Haha. Yeah, go figure. It was really fun! Hello! The Tempe Music Festival was very fun. Got to meet John Mayer (he’s tall) and watch LIT. It was fun for sure. I also got to perform an acoustic set and hang out with much of the Fender family. In other news, I am finally and officially GINGERSLING.COM. I’ve been .net for a while, and yes, it’s the little things that make us happy sometimes, isn’t it?
