New EP is out on iTunes!

You can now listen and buy my new self titled EP on iTunes! I am so excited about my EP finally being done. Kris, Ben West and I finished the recordings in Michigan back in January. Ben is an amazingly talented artist who mixed, engineered and also played a fair amount of instruments on this record, including some keyboard, guitar and bass. Kris played some guitar and keys and sang background vocals. Greg Suran and Pete Thorn played rhythm and lead guitars on various songs. Finally, the amazing Aaron Sterling played drums. I played some guitar and bass. I am so lucky to have worked with such amazingly talented people. Enjoy!

New EP Coming Soon!

I finally recorded my EP! Over the holidays my family and I packed our suitcases and left California for beautiful and snowy Michigan.  I recorded 5 new Ginger Sling songs with the talented Mr. Ben West and Kristopher Pooley. We had so much fun.

The EP should be out soon on Itunes. In the meantime you can hear 2 of the songs on my facebook page. The above photo is the cover of the EP and was shot by Mr. Scott Witter, a talented photographer in the L.A. area. Thanks, Scott!

World was Possibly going to End Today

Hello! Some people that I know thought that the world was possibly going to end today. The fact that I am actually updating my website does make me think that there must be something odd going on in the world today. I am admittedly horrible at updating my site or anything about me on the “interweb” (I think that’s what the kids call it). However, I am now coming out of the baby fog (if you have or have had a baby, you know what I’m talking about) and am ready to party… or maybe just do a few online updates.Since I last wrote, I had a baby! Talula was born after many, many hours of labor in October of 2009. She is now over a year old and actually took her first step today. It was exciting. A handful of months later, over much deliberation, conversation and prayer, I made the decision to leave the Smashing Pumpkins. There were many factors involved, but ultimately I made the decision that was best suited for my family. It was hard to leave and I even snuck on stage with the Pumpkins after I had already officially left the band to play Bullet With Butterfly Wings one last time. Not much later, I had the opportunity to play in the “Glee Live” band that supported the cast of the TV show Glee, while they performed songs from the show. It was a short tour but it was a blast. The cast couldn’t have been sweeter and the band couldn’t have been more amazing. I was lucky enough to play with such great musicians (I have to admit that I was a little intimidated, too) as Zack Alford, Greg Suran, Max Hart and a very handsome Kristopher Pooley. We dragged the baby along of course!Anyway, now it’s November and I am excited to say that I am writing and recording new songs and hope to release another EP soon. I am looking forward to finally getting some new music out into the world!Until next time (hopefully not next year)!-G

The Pumpkins and a Little Pumpkin

sp081202_x5m8220.jpg

The Pumpkins and a little pumpkin This year so far seems to be a year of change and growth for the Pumpkins. I am happy for the various roads everyone is taking in order to be fulfilled musically and spiritually. I wish everyone the best. I want to share something wonderful that is happening this year for me also. My husband Kris and I are expecting a baby in October! We are very excited. Until the baby is here I will be on the road working on my own music as Kris plays keyboards for Morrissey (with Matt Walker on drums). The band is very good and it’s an honor to watch them play every night. Well, thanks for letting me share this news with you all. Kris and I feel very blessed and thankful!

Where I have been/For Better, For Worse

Where I have been/For Better, For Worse Hello,I just wanted to write a little blurb about what has been going on in my life and where I have been. Between this October and October of 2007 I met, fell in love, got engaged and then got married to the best person I have ever met! His name is Kristopher Pooley and I am so thrilled to be married to him.

Needless to say, I have been super busy this past year. Between that and touring, I have also been busy dealing with a close family member who has been in and out of the hospital over the past few years. It’s really hard to see a loved one become really ill and not be able to figure out how to get them better. It’s been a very difficult year but it has also been the best year of my life. So, in case anyone was wondering why I haven’t updated my page or spent a lot of time communicating online, those some of my reasons. I think they are pretty good!

Well, now that things have settled down a bit personally, it’s time to gear up for the next Pumpkins tour. I am excited about the upcoming tour. I can’t say too much, but it’s going to be a great show. We have started rehearsing and it’s great to be back in the same room playing with everyone again. I can’t believe it’s already been 2 years since I started playing with the band. So much has happened since then. We’ve gotten to know a lot about each other and how to work together. Of course you have to experience life together in order to get to a place of understanding. Life and relationships often includes conflict of course, and it’s really what you do with the conflict that leads to better understanding, better friendships and ultimately a better band. I am thankful for the friends that I have made in this band and for how much better we are now than when we first started playing together. It has been challenging for everyone, especially for fans, to see some new faces on stage. I’m not going to pretend that I don’t know that. I was a fan of the original band, too! Things are different now though, for better or worse, depending on your preferences. Everyone has a right to their own opinion. But for me, things are better for a lot of reasons. I am thankful to play in the Pumpkins. I am thankful for music, life and love. So, in case you were wondering, this is where I have been.

Love,

Ginger Pooley
